Privacy policy

Your privacy is part of the product. This policy explains what ARIOUS NEWS collects, why, and the control you have.

Last updated: 25 June 2026

1. Overview

ARIOUS NEWS (“ARIOUS”, “we”, “us”) operates the ARIOUS NEWS mobile application and this website. We designed the product to be evidence-first and privacy-first: public screens never expose your exact location, and we collect only what we need to verify reporting and run the service.

By using ARIOUS you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information — such as your email address and display name when you create an account.
  • Content you submit — reports, videos, photos, comments and verification votes, together with the technical evidence bound to them (timestamp, content hash).
  • Location data — when you capture a report, we record where it was taken so the report can be placed and verified. See “Location and privacy” below.
  • Device and usage data — app version, device type, language, and basic interaction logs used to keep the service reliable and secure.

3. How we use information

  • To provide the feed, verify reports and compute trust scores.
  • To reconstruct events (Reality Visual Reconstruction) from corroborated evidence.
  • To operate community verification, missions and the reality map.
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and comply with the law.
  • To improve features and fix problems.

4. Location and privacy

Location is central to verification, so we treat it carefully. Public screens show only city and country. Your precise GPS coordinates are sealed inside the verification evidence of a report and are never displayed publicly or to other users.

You control location permissions through your device settings, and you can choose not to attach location to what you capture.

5. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:

  • With service providers who help us run the platform (e.g. hosting), under confidentiality obligations.
  • When required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety and the integrity of the service.
  • In aggregated or de-identified form that cannot reasonably identify you.

6. Data retention

We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time.

7. Security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including sealed capture metadata and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work continuously to protect your data.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at Arious@ariousnews.com.

9. Children

ARIOUS is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above, and where appropriate we will notify you in the app.
